Russian Defense Minister Meets with Chief of Staff of Libyan National Army

 Russian Defense Minister Andrey Belousov held talks with the Chief of Staff of the Libyan National Army (LNA), Colonel General Khaled Haftar, the Russian Defense Ministry reported.

Belousov noted that the negotiations were a follow-up to the meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and LNA Commander Marshal Khalifa Haftar, which took place in Moscow on May 9 during the celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

"This visit is very useful for us. We were able to appreciate the significant contribution of the Russian Federation to ensuring global stability," emphasized Khaled Haftar.

During the meeting, the parties discussed current issues of Russian-Libyan relations and the situation in North Africa, according to the statement.

Furthermore, the head of the Russian military department congratulated Khaled Haftar on his appointment as Chief of the General Staff and his promotion to the rank of Colonel General.

"Undoubtedly, this is a recognition of your significant contribution to strengthening the country's defense capabilities," Belousov noted.

The Defense Minister also congratulated Saddam Haftar on his appointment as Deputy Commander of the LNA and his promotion to the rank of Colonel General, and wished good health and success to the army's commander, Marshal Khalifa Haftar.

In turn, Khaled Haftar thanked the head of the Russian Defense Ministry for the warm welcome and wished him success in achieving his goals and objectives.
