Russia and Niger are preparing agreements for cooperation in several key sectors, including energy, as well as the extraction and processing of mineral resources. This was announced by Russia's Ambassador to Niger, Viktor Voropayev, in an interview with TASS.

"In general, it can be said that our interaction is currently on the rise. Agreements on cooperation in a wide variety of fields are being prepared, including in energy, and the extraction and processing of mineral resources. Promising directions are agriculture, healthcare, culture, and sports," Voropayev emphasized.

The ambassador added that Niger's leadership, headed by President Abdourahamane Tchiani, is focused on achieving sovereignty in policy, energy, agriculture, education, and culture.

"This largely resonates with the Russian approaches championed by our President Vladimir Putin," the diplomat stated.

In January, Russian Ambassador to Niger Viktor Voropayev presented his credentials to the country's President, Abdourahamane Tchiani. This ongoing diplomatic engagement underscores the deepening ties between the two nations, with Niger seeking to diversify its international partnerships following recent geopolitical shifts in the Sahel region, and Russia expanding its economic and strategic footprint in Africa.
