Algeria and Chad concluded 27 partnership agreements during the 4th session of the Joint Cooperation Commission, held in Algiers on April 21, Anadolu reports, citing Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf.
The meeting was co-chaired by Attaf and Chadian Foreign Minister Abdoulaye Sabre Fadoul.
"Algerian-Chadian relations are poised to open unprecedented opportunities and begin a new stage in their history in terms of quality, development, and depth," Attaf stated during the event, emphasizing "the potential for cooperation in all its dimensions and the strong will fueling shared ambitions."
According to him, the sides set three main objectives for further developing relations: to devote sufficient attention and ensure proper oversight to Algerian-Chadian relations at all levels, to strengthen trade, and to establish bilateral investment.
Fadoul, for his part, stressed that holding the session is an "expressive sign of the ambitions" of both countries to develop relations. The Chadian minister also noted that the partnership between the sides should become "a strategic relationship built on complementarity."
"Relations between Chad and Algeria can no longer be merely a historical bond of solidarity. ... They must become ... a relationship that strengthens our collective capacity to confront security threats, economic shocks, and external pressure in the Saharo-Sahelian region, marked by instability, rising terrorism, transnational trafficking, and rivalry for influence," he added.
The session took place ahead of the visit to Algeria of Chadian President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno. During the trip to Algeria, Déby Itno is scheduled to hold talks with Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
The Chadian leader's previous visit to Algeria took place in September 2025. At that time, the leaders of both countries declared their intention to strengthen strategic partnership and coordinate positions on the international stage.
