US Deports Citizens from 6 Countries to South Sudan

2025-07-07_00-20-16

The US Department of Homeland Security has deported eight illegal immigrants from six different countries to South Sudan, according to a press release from the department. Among those sent to South Sudan were two citizens of Cuba, a Laotian migrant, a Mexican national, two citizens of Myanmar, a Vietnamese, and a South Sudanese. They were accused of serious crimes committed during their stay in the United States, including murder, armed robbery, illegal acquisition and possession of weapons, rape, and other serious offenses.

The US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) planned to deport these migrants several weeks ago. The deportation route was set to go through a US military base in Djibouti, where a temporary detention facility was prepared for the foreigners. However, the deportation decision was blocked by the court, preventing ICE personnel overseeing the process in Djibouti from returning to the US.

"After weeks of delays from judges that endangered our law enforcement officers, ICE deported eight illegal immigrants so vile that even their own countries refuse to accept them. This was a victory for the rule of law, security, and the protection of the American people. We thank our brave ICE employees for their sacrifice in defending our freedoms," said Deputy Secretary Patricia McLoughlin.

At the end of May, US authorities stated that South Sudan would not be the final destination in the deportation process.
