Chad's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdoulaye Sabre Fadoul, met with a US delegation led by the American Ambassador to N'Djamena, William Flens. The parties discussed mutual visa restrictions and the fight against illegal migration, as reported by the Chadian foreign ministry on social media.

The US delegation included a representative of the US Secretary of State, the Director General of the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), and a legal advisor to the US Secretary of State.

"The exchange of views focused on bilateral cooperation, visa restrictions imposed on citizens of both countries, the fight against illegal immigration, and humanitarian issues. The American side highly appreciated Chad's commitment and efforts in combating terrorism and illegal immigration," the statement said.

The parties also discussed the current situation in eastern regions of Chad, which are experiencing a significant influx of refugees from Sudan.

"Both sides agreed to continue technical consultations to strengthen cooperation in the areas of mobility, security, migration management, and other sectors of bilateral partnership," the Chadian Foreign Ministry added.

In June, US President Donald Trump banned entry into the United States for citizens of seven African countries, including Chad. In response, N'Djamena suspended the issuance of visas to US citizens.
