Rosatom State Corporation has signed an agreement with the Egyptian Nuclear Power Plants Authority for the production of the first batch of nuclear fuel for the El-Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant, and the relevant division has already commenced production. This was reported to TASS by the state corporation's press service.

"Today, we signed the order for the manufacture of the first fuel batch—the initial load for the first unit of this nuclear power plant. JSC TVEL has started production of this fuel batch to ensure its timely and complete delivery to the customer by the time of the NPP's commissioning," Rosatom stated.

On November 19, the installation of the reactor vessel for Unit 1 was completed at El-Dabaa. The signal for the installation was given by Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, who attended the ceremony via video link. In his address to the ceremony participants, Putin stated that Russia would continue to assist Egypt at all stages of the El-Dabaa project's implementation.

The El-Dabaa NPP is Egypt's first nuclear power plant. It is being constructed in the city of El-Dabaa on the Mediterranean coast. The plant will consist of four power units, each with a capacity of 1,200 megawatts. In September 2025, Egyptian Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mahmoud Esmat announced that the construction of the four NPP units would be completed in 2029.

The station is being built under contracts from 2017, under which Russia will not only construct the NPP but also supply nuclear fuel throughout the facility's operational life, as well as train plant specialists during the first ten years of the NPP's operation. Additionally, the Russian side will build fuel storage facilities and provide containers for storing spent nuclear fuel.
