In the Senegalese capital of Dakar, the third Africa-Asia conference and festival has commenced, set to continue until June 14. This was reported on the conference's official website.

The event is organized by Cheikh Anta Diop University (UCAD) in Dakar, which also serves as the conference venue, in collaboration with the Collective Platform Africa-Southeast Asia (CASAP) and the International Institute for Asian Studies (IIAS).

This conference aims to carry forward the legacy of the 1955 Bandung Conference, which laid the groundwork for the Non-Aligned Movement. This historic event is one of the many topics slated for discussion, alongside pan-Africanism and a new world order.

Other subjects that participants will explore during the sessions include "Afro-Asia in a Complex World Migration, Diasporas, Creole Cultures," "The Role of Local Communities Society versus States and Corporations," "Interaction of Humans, Nature, and Technology," and "Geopolitical and Economic Hegemonies," among others.

According to RFI radio station, around 600 scholars and activists from 60 nations are attending the festival. The radio station also notes that the conference's purpose in Dakar is to establish an interregional knowledge community, fostering new avenues for exchange and cooperation between Asia and Africa without Western involvement. Similar conferences have previously taken place in Accra, Ghana, and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Additionally, in August, the first International Sculptor's Forum will be held in the Egyptian city of El Alamein.
