China and Mozambique have agreed to raise the level of bilateral relations to a "community of common destiny in a new era" following talks between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Mozambican President Daniel Chapu in Beijing, the State Council of the People's Republic of China reports.

Xi Jinping noted that strengthening cooperation meets the interests of both countries and reflects the trend of the Global South towards "strengthening solidarity."

According to him, the parties intend to expand cooperation in the economy, infrastructure, energy and new technologies. China is ready to strengthen the integration of development strategies, explore new models of cooperation and develop areas such as agriculture, new energy, digital economy and artificial intelligence, the Chinese president stressed. He also pointed out the need for coordination in the international arena.

The President of Mozambique, in turn, reaffirmed his commitment to developing relations with China in trade, agriculture and energy. He also thanked Beijing for the support of African countries.

Following the talks, the parties signed more than 20 cooperation agreements, including projects under the Belt and Road initiative, as well as cooperation in the fields of economics, healthcare and humanitarian exchanges.

Shapu was in China on a state visit.
