The Dean of the Russian Orthodox Church's South African parishes in Malawi, Father Ioakim Bakali, has baptized 35 members of the Mang'anja tribe. This was reported by the press service of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa.
The baptism ceremony was held at the Parish of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul, located in Chiradzulu District. The newly baptized had undergone around six months of preparation before receiving the sacrament. Earlier, on Holy Saturday, Father Ioakim also baptized 40 residents of Nkhotakota District in Malawi.
Additionally, in March, Metropolitan Konstantin of Zaraisk, the Patriarchal Exarch of Africa, baptized 22 residents of Madagascar in the waters of the Indian Ocean on the island's west coast.
The Russian Orthodox Church continues its missionary activity and outreach across Africa, welcoming new members from diverse local communities.
