The Russian House in Cairo hosted a "Lady Maslenitsa" festival to mark the beginning of Maslenitsa week. This was reported by the press service of the Russian representative office.

The celebrations were attended by Russians living in Egypt as well as Egyptian citizens from various cities across the country.

The festival brought together guests from Alexandria, Cairo, Hurghada, and El-Dabaa. Attendees were treated to an exhibition of folk crafts, "showcasing the richness and diversity of Russian decorative and applied arts."

Visitors were also offered traditional Russian pancakes with various fillings.

The event concluded with a performance by the "Kalinka" choir under the direction of conductor Luiza Bledzants.

Earlier in February, RBC, citing a study by consulting firm Strategy Partners, reported that pancakes are cheapest to make in Ethiopia and Egypt, with one pancake costing 4.8 and 5 rubles respectively in these countries. The Cairo celebration thus offered attendees an affordable taste of Russian culinary tradition.
