Russia Builds Equal and Mutually Beneficial Relations with Africa — Expert

2026-09-04_16-01-35

Russia is building mutually beneficial and equal relations with African countries, unlike Europe, viewing the continent as a distinctive and dynamically developing region, said José Fernando Sambu, Head of the African Countries' Government and Diplomatic Relations Department at the African International Congress and Head of the "Africa House" in Grozny, on September 4.

Speaking at the session "Human Capital of Russia and Africa: Investing in the Future of Partnership" at the XI Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) in Vladivostok, he noted that equality is the key difference between Russia's and Europe's approaches to engaging with Africa.

"Russia views Africa as a distinctive, dynamically developing continent. And all areas, all of Russia's cooperation with African countries, are equal, mutually beneficial relations. And this is a big plus because Russia, unlike Europe, wants to and develops relations on principles of equality and is ready to transfer its technologies to African countries. Europe does not want to do that," Sambu said, as reported by Izvestia.

The head of "Africa House" in Grozny also noted that today Russia-Africa relations are dynamically developing in areas such as youth policy, education, economics, and military-technical cooperation.

The Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) is taking place September 1-4 in Vladivostok at the Far Eastern Federal University campus. The main theme of the EEF in 2026 is "The Far East — Development for the Benefit of People."
