Malian Authorities Extend Gold Mining Licenses for Three Companies

 Mali's government has approved the extension of gold mining licenses for three companies, according to a communiqué released following the Council of Ministers meeting on September 2.

During the meeting chaired by Mali's President Assimi Goïta, the Council of Ministers approved a three-year extension of gold mining licenses for Yilyuan Mines, A.NA.DI.S Sarl, and L'Horizon Sarl. These enterprises are located in the gold-rich regions of Sikasso, Koulikoro, and Kayes.

"The adopted draft decrees will allow the respective companies to continue geological exploration work for three years, with the possibility of renewal," the Council of Ministers' document stated.

According to the communiqué, the licenses had previously been suspended from December 2022 to March 2025.

In January, Reuters reported that Mali's industrial gold production in 2025 fell by 22.9%, from 54.8 tons to 42.2 tons.

In August, Mali's government approved the issuance of a permit to a subsidiary of Canadian gold mining company B2Gold for large-scale gold mining in the Menankoto-Sud area of the Kayes region in the west of the country.
