During a meeting at the Kremlin with Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that although trade between Russia and Zimbabwe remains modest, both countries see considerable potential for growth. This could be achieved by expanding cooperation in sectors such as geological exploration, energy, and agriculture.

Putin emphasized that while the trade volume is currently small, there are plenty of opportunities for development in various fields — including geological exploration, energy, and agriculture.

The Russian president also pointed out that many Zimbabwean specialists receive training at Russian universities. Currently, 460 students from Zimbabwe are studying in Russia.

"For the 2025-2026 academic year, 125 government scholarships have been allocated, and over 500 people are enrolled in online Russian language courses at Saint Petersburg State University. Your universities are also actively participating in the Russian-African Network University," Putin mentioned.

He added that Russia continues to provide essential assistance to Zimbabwe when necessary. In 2024, Russia delivered 25,000 tons of wheat and tens of thousands of tons of fertilizer to the African country.
