Morocco Set to Host Thrilling Afcon 2025 as Groups Announced

 The eagerly-awaited 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) draw, conducted in Rabat, Morocco, has set the stage for Africa's premier football competition. The tournament will commence on December 21, with hosts Morocco facing off against Comoros in an exciting opening match.

Defending champions Ivory Coast have been drawn in Group F, which promises to be challenging as they will contend with the likes of Cameroon, Gabon, and Mozambique. The runners-up from the previous edition, Nigeria, find themselves in Group C, where they will compete against Tunisia, Uganda, and Tanzania.

In what is set to be a tightly contested Group B, regional rivalries are set to ignite as three southern African nations — South Africa, Angola, and Zimbabwe — will join forces against Egypt. Meanwhile, war-afflicted Sudan will have a tough battle in Group E as they face formidable opponents in Algeria.

The 2019 champions, Senegal, have been placed in Group D alongside DR Congo, setting the stage for thrilling encounters. The tournament, which will span until January 18, 2026, will feature a total of 24 teams, each vying for the prestigious trophy. The competition will allow the top two teams from each group and the four best third-placed teams to move forward into the knockout stages, ensuring fierce matchups as teams strive to clinch victory.
