Marrakech-Menara International Airport in Morocco received the "Best Regional Airport in Africa" award at the World Airport Awards 2026 ceremony, held in London, the Moroccan portal Industries reports.
The airport was honored with a top-tier international award for the first time.
The World Airport Awards are presented annually based on global traveler surveys that evaluate airports according to a range of criteria. During the 2026 voting, travelers noted the high quality of service, efficiency of operational processes, and ease of navigation through the terminals at Marrakech-Menara Airport. Passengers also highlighted the high level of organization at the airport, its hospitality, and modern infrastructure.
Cape Town Airport in South Africa was named the best airport in Africa.
Earlier in March, Tunisia's Ministry of Transport announced it was ready to allocate over $1 billion to expand the international airport. The project aims to increase the airport's capacity from 5 million to 18.5 million passengers per year by 2031.
