The first batch of wheat totaling 33,000 tons has been shipped from the Kaliningrad region to Nigeria, according to the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) office for the Kaliningrad region.
The shipment was carried out on March 12. Prior to dispatch, the products underwent inspection by the agency's specialists, including sampling to determine quarantine phytosanitary status and verification of compliance with Nigerian requirements.
"The quality and safety of the exported products have been confirmed by the laboratory test protocol of the Kaliningrad Testing Laboratory of the Federal State Budgetary Institution 'ARRIAH'," the statement read.
According to Agroexport, during the 2024-2025 agricultural year, Russia increased wheat supplies to Nigeria more than threefold compared to the 2023-2024 level, reaching nearly 1.4 million tons.
