Congo is interested in Russian waste management projects

The Republic of the Congo is open to cooperation with Russia in the field of waste management, including in the format of public-private partnership projects. This was announced to the African Initiative by the Minister of Urban Sanitation, Local Development and Road Management, Juste Désiré Mondelet.

"I myself had the opportunity to visit Sochi and Moscow. The resort city of Sochi is very clean, as is Moscow. So there really is a potential for exchanges, as well as for the participation of companies, for public-private partnerships in this sector," the minister said.

He stressed that the Republic of the Congo is open to studying and borrowing Russian experience in the field of sanitation and waste disposal. "We are open to sharing experiences with Russia and considering how technological transfers and exchanges can be implemented," he said, drawing a parallel with existing cooperation in the fields of sports, education and medicine.

The head of the department noted that the sphere of sanitation and waste management directly affects the daily lives of citizens and requires modern technological solutions, therefore, practical Russian experience can be useful to Congo.

Earlier in December, the Minister of Higher Education of the Republic of Congo, Delphine Edith Emmanuel Aduki, told AI that computer science and digital technologies, physics, chemistry and oil business are the most sought-after specialties in Russian universities for the Congolese economy.
