2026-04-27_15-05-14

Cameroon began its fourth general population census on April 24, Actu Cameroun reports.

According to the publication, the census has for the first time been combined with a general agricultural and livestock survey, which will allow for the collection of data not only on population and housing but also on farming and livestock activities.

The project is being implemented by presidential decree and will be carried out in several stages to cover all regions of the country. More than 355,000 people are involved in the census, and smartphones are being used to collect information for the first time.

Cameroon's previous census was conducted in 2005.

Last year, the West African country's Prime Minister, Joseph Dion Ngute, announced that the Cameroonian government would conduct the population census in the first quarter of 2026.
