Burkina Faso's Foreign Minister, Karamoko Jean Marie Traoré, met with the European Union's Special Representative for the Sahel countries, João Gomes Cravinho. Both parties have agreed to continue consultations on issues of mutual interest, according to Burkina Faso's Information Agency (AIB).
The agency notes that Cravinho's visit marks a continuation of diplomatic dialogue, aiming to strengthen the relationship between the EU and Burkina Faso.
"This is my second visit to Ouagadougou to consult with the authorities on issues of shared interest for both the European Union and Burkina Faso, and to explain Brussels' perspectives on these matters," said the special representative, as quoted by AIB.
According to Cravinho, this approach will help develop plans for more effective and active cooperation between the EU and Burkina Faso. He also stated that Brussels intends to continue its support for Ouagadougou's national development.
The head of Burkina Faso's Foreign Ministry welcomed the EU representative's return visit, describing it as proof of "the importance given to cooperation between Burkina Faso and the European Union."
Traoré emphasized the need to align actions with the priorities of Burkina Faso's government and called on the EU to focus its assistance on humanitarian support.
Earlier in May, Burkina Faso's leader, Ibrahim Traoré, held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
