Rwanda's leading mining company, Trinity Metals, has signed a memorandum of understanding with American firm Nathan Trotter to set up a new tin supply chain from Rwanda to the United States. This was announced by Trinity Metals' press service.
According to the statement, the partnership is expected to boost job creation, promote sustainable development, and support overall economic growth.
Earlier in January, Rwanda's Board of Mining, Petroleum and Gas (RMB) reported the discovery of potential oil reserves in Lake Kivu. The lake, located on the border between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo, covers an area of 2,700 square kilometers.
In April, US-based Alphamin Resources decided to resume tin mining operations at the Bisie mine in Walikale district, eastern DRC, after the withdrawal of March 23 Movement (M23) rebels from the area.
