On August 1, Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan ceremoniously inaugurated the construction of Kwala Industrial Park, situated in the Kibaha district in the eastern part of the country. The project's chairman, Jensen Huang, reported this to Xinhua News Agency.

The project is being developed in partnership with Tanzania's Group Six International and Arise Integrated Industrial Platform. The park will cover 2,500 acres and is expected to host over 200 manufacturing facilities in the future.

"Seven factories are already operational, with five more under construction. Currently, more than 1,000 Tanzanians are employed at the park, and this number is expected to exceed 5,000 by the end of 2026," Huang noted.

The industrial park aims to support industries in the clean energy sector, including the production of batteries for electric vehicles, aligning with global goals to reduce carbon emissions by 2050.

Huang mentioned that the project is being implemented in collaboration with the Tanzanian government. Once completed, it is anticipated to create over 300,000 jobs and attract up to $3 billion in investments. The park is projected to achieve an annual output of up to $6 billion, with the export of value-added goods reaching $2 billion.

In July, Rosatom's subsidiary, Mantra Tanzania Ltd, launched a pilot uranium processing facility in southern Tanzania as part of the Mkuju River project. The main processing complex is to be constructed in 2026 at the Nyota deposit in the Namtumbo region.

Upon completion, the facility will have a capacity of about 3,000 tons of uranium per year. The project is expected to create over 4,000 jobs and contribute to the development of the region's transportation and social infrastructure.
