Russian company Rusal has paid retirement benefits to former employees of the alumina plant at the Friguia bauxite-alumina complex in the city of Fria, Guinea, allocating 3.3 billion Guinean francs (approximately $375,000). This was reported by the local portal Africa Guinee.

The payments were received by 58 workers who completed their careers in 2024-2025. The ceremony was attended by the Labor Inspector of the Fria Prefecture, Mange Camara, who called the initiative an example of fulfilling social obligations to employees.

"Today we have gathered to present ... payments to those who are retiring. Rusal is a company that always fulfills its obligations. I want to thank you for the excellent work you have done over your many years of service," stated the head of the Friguia complex, Alexey Sakhatchev.

The payment program has been implemented since 2024. In October 2024, 133 retirees received 35% of payments, and in December of the same year, another 35%. The current payment represents the final stage for workers who retired in 2024-2025.

In October of last year, in an interview with African Initiative, Russian Ambassador to Guinea Alexey Popov stated that the field of geological exploration and mining is key for economic cooperation between the countries. The main player among Russian companies in the Guinean market is Rusal, which is one of the largest foreign investors in the country's economy.
