Nigerian Armed Forces Reinforced with Over 3,300 New Recruits

 In Nigeria, over 3,300 recruits have completed training at the military college in the city of Osogbo and have joined the ranks of the country's armed forces. This was reported by the Nigerian Armed Forces.

"Conduct yourselves as worthy representatives of this institution throughout your careers," emphasized Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Waidi Shuaibu during the graduation ceremony.

He highlighted that the recruits are joining the Nigerian Army at a critical period in the nation's history and urged them to always "act with the hope of success, not the fear of failure."

Earlier in December, over 3,400 individuals in Nigeria completed six months of training at the military college in Zaria and joined the country's armed forces.

In December, the newspaper The Punch reported, citing an internal memo signed by Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Waidi Shuaibu, that the Nigerian Armed Forces Command had suspended the retirement of certain categories of officers due to the worsening security situation in the country.

Additionally, in early December, Nigeria saw a change in its military leadership: Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa was appointed as the country's new Minister of Defence following the resignation of Mohammed Badaru Abubakar.

At the end of November, Nigerian President Bola Tinubu declared a state of emergency in the country and announced an additional recruitment drive for the armed forces and police. This decision followed an increase in kidnappings.
