Nigeria's Federal Executive Council (FEC) has given the green light for the launch of four Earth observation satellites to boost national security. According to The Guardian Nigerian, this decision was announced by Uche Godfrey Nnaji, Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology.

One of the satellites will be equipped with a synthetic aperture radar—a specialized antenna system that can send and receive electromagnetic radar waves.

"The surveillance satellite will be able to capture images day or night, in any weather, rain or shine. This is an example of real-world technology. These satellites can be of significant use to the military," Nnaji explained.

Earlier, the minister stated that Nigeria expects to generate over $20 billion annually by expanding its space industry and building a "space economy."
