Between the night of April 24 and 25, Niamey hosted a special event honoring Niger's National Day of Unity, which is observed every year on April 24. The celebration was organized by the NGO "Hand in Hand Niger–Russia" together with the Agency for the Promotion of Cultural Heritage, as reported by an African Initiative correspondent.

The Russian partners aimed to encourage intercultural dialogue, strengthen peace and social cohesion in Niger, and deepen cultural ties between Niger and Russia.

The program took place at the Umaru Ganda Cultural Centre and featured performances by a rap artist, a stand-up comedian, a national dance troupe, and a vibrant fashion show of traditional costumes. The highlight of the event was a modern African stage adaptation of Alexander Pushkin's fairytale "Ruslan and Ludmila".

The "Hand in Hand Niger–Russia" organization has announced plans to continue such initiatives, further fostering friendship and cooperation between the two nations.

Earlier, on April 12, the organization held a Friendship Lesson in Niger dedicated to Yuri Gagarin, the first human in space.
