The ceremony was attended by President Faustin-Archange Touadéra alongside government officials and the Director of the Gendarmerie, Landry Dépao. This year's National Day of Remembrance paid special tribute to citizens who remain missing as a result of the conflicts. Particular attention was given to the families of those missing, who continue to live with uncertainty about the fate of their loved ones.
Earlier in May, Bangui, the capital of CAR, celebrated Victory Day with a series of public events, including an "Immortal Regiment" march and an air show, both drawing wide participation and underscoring the enduring importance of historical memory and collective resilience in the face of adversity.
