The member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) are preparing a comprehensive plan to strengthen trade and economic ties with Africa through 2027. This was announced by Belarusian Prime Minister Alexander Turchin during a meeting of the union's Intergovernmental Council.

"In our view, a constructive partnership with the African continent holds enormous potential. In this context, it is necessary to accelerate the finalization, approval, and implementation of the comprehensive plan to promote the development of trade and economic cooperation between the EAEU and Africa until 2027," the Prime Minister emphasized, as reported by the BelTA news agency.

Turchin also noted that Belarus considers international cooperation within the EAEU framework a promising direction for trade development and added that the union has signed a number of agreements with countries in Asia and Latin America.

Earlier in September, a round of inter-ministerial consultations on "Interaction between CIS Member States and African Countries" was held at the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) headquarters in Minsk. The participants discussed the current state of relations with African nations and outlined steps for developing partnerships with countries in the region, the African Union (AU), and other continental integration blocs.
