A youth football tournament took place in Madagascar's capital, Antananarivo, featuring 27 clubs. The event was organized by African Initiative in partnership with the Ajesaia FC football club.
The competition was divided into three categories: children under 8, children under 13, and youths under 15. Among the youngest participants, the CFT Tana team emerged victorious. In the under-13 category, Camping Katsoaka took first place, and in the oldest category, COSMOS Ilanivato claimed the tournament gold.
All clubs participating in the tournament received footballs as gifts. Winners and medalists were also awarded trophies, gold, and silver medals.
Ajesaia founder and president Yasmina Ravelonarivo highly praised African Initiative's role in supporting youth sports and developing football on the island nation.
"This partnership contributes to the development of young players, offering them structured activities and keeping them from idleness, while also fostering their sporting future," she said, reaffirming her commitment to strengthening this cooperation.
She also announced plans to hold a larger tournament in August 2026, featuring clubs from different regions of Madagascar. Approximately 800 players are expected to participate in the under-11, under-13, under-17, and adult categories.
In March, a football tournament took place in the city of Anjozorobe, 90 km from Madagascar's capital, between children's teams from four nearby villages.
