Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan will speak at the plenary session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) during her state visit to Russia, a source in diplomatic circles told African Initiative.
During the visit, the Tanzanian president will also meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin, and the two heads of state will hold talks at the Kremlin. Additionally, Hassan will be awarded an honorary doctorate from RUDN University, the source added.
The president's visit to Russia from June 3 to 6 was announced by Tanzanian Foreign Minister Mahmoud Thabit Kombo during the opening of the Russian-Tanzanian Business Forum in Arusha. On May 16, on the sidelines of a meeting of the Russian-Tanzanian Intergovernmental Commission, Russian Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov stated that the talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan would provide an additional impetus to the development of bilateral relations.
