Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan held talks on cooperation with Angolan leader João Lourenço, Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali, and Comorian President Azali Assoumani on the sidelines of the 39th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union Heads of State and Government in Ethiopia. This was reported in a press release from the Tanzanian presidential administration.

The agenda of negotiations with the Angolan president included the development of economic cooperation, trade, investment, and industrial development between Tanzania and Angola, as well as the potential for strengthening cooperation in the energy, mining, manufacturing, and infrastructure sectors.

Lourenço accepted an invitation to pay an official visit to Tanzania and to be the guest of honor at the annual "Sabasaba" International Trade Fair in July 2026.

"This step is expected to open a new chapter in the strategic partnership between the two countries," the press release emphasized.

During the meeting with the Ethiopian Prime Minister, the main focus was on expanding economic cooperation.

"Ethiopia is targeting economic growth of 10.2%, while Tanzania expects to achieve growth of 6.5% as part of efforts to improve the welfare of citizens in both countries," the press release noted.

In turn, the President of Comoros expressed gratitude to Samia Suluhu Hassan for bilateral cooperation, her contribution to improving the quality of medical services, trade, and security issues, as well as for specialized medical assistance to citizens of the African island nation.

During the meeting, Assoumani also expressed his intention to make an official visit to Tanzania, and Hassan supported his intention.

Earlier in February, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met with Tanzanian Foreign Minister Mahmoud Thabit Kombo. The sides discussed expanding trade, economic, and investment cooperation.
