Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye and Rwandan President Paul Kagame have signed five cooperation agreements, including a visa waiver for holders of diplomatic, service, and ordinary passports. The announcement was made by the Senegalese presidential administration following the meeting of the two heads of state in Kigali.

The leaders' talks focused on strengthening and diversifying cooperation between the two nations. In addition to the visa abolition agreement, the parties signed treaties on partnership in agriculture, healthcare, development programs, and correctional services.

"This state visit marks an important step in strengthening the bonds of friendship and cooperation between Senegal and Rwanda, underscoring the shared commitment of both countries to build an exemplary partnership based on solidarity, efficiency, and a common vision for development," the statement read.

As part of his three-day state visit to Rwanda, President Faye also visited a memorial dedicated to the victims of the 1994 genocide.

Earlier in October, Eric Rubayita, Counsellor at the Rwandan Embassy in Moscow, invited Russian companies to explore cooperation opportunities in the hydrocarbon sector.
