Samuel Nujoma, a pivotal figure in Namibia's struggle for independence, has passed away at the age of 95. As a freedom fighter, Nujoma was instrumental in the liberation of Namibia from South African occupation. As the founding leader of SWAPO, he worked tirelessly to unite Namibians and bring international attention to the fight against apartheid and colonial injustices.

After years of resistance and exile, Nujoma became Namibia's first president in 1990, serving for 15 years with a focus on national reconciliation and unity. Despite his significant contributions to the nation's liberation, his presidency faced controversies over his discriminatory rhetoric and prolonged tenure.

Even after stepping down from official roles in 2007, Nujoma stayed active in politics until his passing, leaving behind a complex legacy of visionary leadership intertwined with contentious actions.
