The fourth meeting of the Russian-Mozambican Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation will be held in Moscow from September 28 to October 2, Russia's Embassy in Mozambique reported on September 21.

Preparations for the event were discussed on September 21 by Russian Ambassador Vladimir Tararov and Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and the Mozambican Diaspora Maria de Fátima Mansu, who serves as co-chair of the commission on the Mozambican side.

The meeting participants reviewed organizational matters for the upcoming session, the state of the bilateral legal framework, and promising areas of cooperation between Moscow and Maputo. The interlocutors also confirmed their readiness to actively work on strengthening practical interaction between the two countries.

Earlier, in an interview with African Initiative published on September 18, Vladimir Tararov said that the commission's meeting would form the basis for Mozambique's participation program at the third Russia-Africa Summit. The talks are expected to cover cooperation in the real sector of the economy, the humanitarian sphere, youth policy, and culture. Moscow expects a large Mozambican delegation at the summit.

In July, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced following talks in Maputo that the sides had agreed to prepare proposals for specific joint projects ahead of the autumn meeting of the intergovernmental commission. The minister noted Moscow's and Maputo's interest in developing and modernizing trade, economic, and investment ties.
