Russia to Sign Agreements with Mali and Burkina Faso on Peaceful Nuclear Cooperation

2025-06-13_19-43-16

The Russian government has approved the signing of agreements with Mali and Burkina Faso for cooperation in the peaceful use of nuclear energy. The corresponding directives were published on the official legal information portal.

According to the documents, Russia's state corporation Rosatom, in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is tasked with signing these agreements with the governments of the African nations. During negotiations, the parties will have the ability to propose non-essential modifications to the draft documents.

The directives indicate that the draft agreements have been preliminarily reviewed and coordinated with Malian and Burkinian counterparts as well as with involved Russian agencies.

In April, Rosatom Renewable Energy announced to the "African Initiative" that the company considers the Sahel region countries of Africa as priority areas for developing projects related to renewable energy sources.
