Russia to Open Consulate General in Sharm El-Sheikh

Russia will soon open a consulate general in Sharm El-Sheikh, a popular resort city in Egypt. The official order was signed by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin and has been published on the official legal information portal.

According to the document, the Russian Foreign Ministry has been instructed to determine the staffing levels for the new consulate general in accordance with approved norms for Russian diplomatic missions abroad, and to finalize its organizational structure.

The order also states that all costs related to the establishment and operation of the consulate will be covered by the budget of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The opening of the consulate general aims to provide better support and consular services to Russian citizens living in or visiting the region, as well as to strengthen ties between Russia and Egypt.

Earlier, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced that Russia also plans to open diplomatic missions in Gambia, Liberia, Togo, and the Comoros.
