Russia plans to increase funding in 2026 for the mechanism supporting the development of new international logistics routes, including those to African countries. This was announced by Russian Minister of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov on the sidelines of the "Russian Industrialist" forum in St. Petersburg.
"Yes, for the coming year, we are planning an increase in funding volume. This is for the so-called rollout of new international logistics routes. We select directions that are of interest, first and foremost, to our exporters. But backloading, import, is also important and necessary for us," said Alikhanov, as reported by TASS.
He emphasized that the geography of the routes will be expanded with the help of major investors operating on the African continent.
"And here I want to note that we have a number of major players who are investing, including in the African continent, and will provide us with backloading. That is, not only our exports but also return imports to the Russian Federation. Therefore, the geography will definitely be expanded. This is very important. I can guarantee it," the minister noted.
In 2025, 1.2 billion rubles were allocated to fund export subsidies for logistics companies transporting products along priority international transport corridors to countries in Latin America and Africa. Among the countries included in the program are Nicaragua, Senegal, Brazil, Cuba, South Africa, and Tanzania.
