Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Georgy Borisenko has discussed preparations for the third Russia-Africa Summit, scheduled for October 28-29 in Moscow, with the Secretary-General of the Republic of Congo's Foreign Ministry, Guy Nestor Itoua, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported on September 2.
"Special attention was paid to preparations for the Congolese delegation's participation in the third Russia-Africa Summit, which will take place in Moscow in October this year," the statement read.
Additionally, Borisenko and Itoua discussed the further development of multifaceted cooperation between the two countries and addressed the implementation of agreements reached during the talks between the presidents of Russia and Congo on April 29 in Moscow.
The sides also confirmed the similarity of their approaches to building a polycentric model of world order and expressed mutual interest in deepening contacts on current issues.
"Mutual interest was confirmed in deepening contacts on current regional and international agenda topics, expanding foreign policy coordination at the UN and other multilateral platforms," Russia's Foreign Ministry emphasized.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the diplomats exchanged views on possible ways to resolve conflict situations in the world, particularly on the African continent.
"A thorough exchange of views took place on possible ways to unlock conflict situations worldwide, with a focus on 'hot spots' on the African continent," the document stated.
In July, 30 countries confirmed their participation in the third Russia-Africa Summit.
The first Russia-Africa Summit took place in October 2019 in Sochi, co-chaired by the Russian President and the head of the African Union, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. The second summit was held in August 2023 in St. Petersburg.
