Metropolitan Konstantin of Zaraysk presented the rector of the Church of the Resurrection in Rabat, Morocco, Archpriest Maksim Massalitin, with the Patriarchal award—The Order of Saint Seraphim of Sarov, Third Degree. This was reported by the press service of the Patriarchal Exarchate of the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) in Africa.
"Archpriest Maksim has been awarded the Order of Saint Seraphim of Sarov, Third Degree, by His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia in honor of his 50th birthday," the statement says.
The award is granted for significant contributions to the revival of monasteries, churches, pastoral work, and ecclesiastical and public activities. The order is represented by a four-pointed cross with flared ends and a wedge-shaped finish, covered in green enamel.
Previously, Father Ioakim Bakali, the dean of the ROC parishes in Malawi, discussed the Orthodox parishes in this East African country, mentioning the regular addition of hundreds of people to the ROC and the reasons why local residents choose to do so.
