Côte d'Ivoire's Independent Electoral Commission (CEI) has scheduled elections for the National Assembly (the parliament's lower house) for December 27. This was announced by CEI President Ibrahime Coulibaly Kuibiert during a press conference.
"Based on the proposal from the Independent Electoral Commission, the President of the Republic has signed a decree convening the electoral colleges to elect deputies to the National Assembly on Saturday, December 27, 2025," he stated.
According to him, the voting must be held before December 31, when the term of the current parliament expires. The electoral campaign will run from December 19 to 26, with preliminary results announced between December 28 and 30. Any potential disputes regarding the election results must be resolved by January 5 to allow the new assembly to begin its work on January 19, 2026.
Deputies in Côte d'Ivoire's National Assembly are elected for four-year terms. The previous parliamentary elections were held in March 2021 and resulted in a victory for the Rally of Republicans (Rassemblement des Républicains) party, led by President Alassane Ouattara. The voter turnout was 37.88%.
Earlier in October, Ouattara won the presidential election, securing 89.77% of the vote.
