The Omsk Region has started supplying agricultural products to countries in the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America. New export destinations for grain this year include Libya, Nigeria, Angola, and South Africa, said Nikolay Drofa, the region's Minister of Agriculture, on social media.
According to the minister, producers from Omsk have shipped batches of wheat to Nigeria and Angola, buckwheat to South Africa, and barley to Libya.
"In 2026, the geography of supplies covered 31 countries, six of which are new destinations explored by Omsk farmers this year. In particular, regional producers have started agricultural exports to countries in the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America. Specifically, barley is being supplied to Israel and Libya, wheat to Mexico, Nigeria, and Angola, and buckwheat to the Republic of South Africa," Drofa noted.
In June, Omsk Region Governor Vitaly Khotsenko, speaking on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), announced that exporters from the region had begun supplying agricultural products to several countries in Asia, Latin America, and Africa, including Togo, Côte d'Ivoire, and Uganda.
In April, Khotsenko reported that trade turnover between the Omsk Region and African countries had grown nearly fivefold in 2025.
