Nigerian President Bola Tinubu will meet with U.S. President Donald Trump in the coming days to discuss the American leader's accusations regarding the persecution of Christians in the West African nation. This was announced on social media by Tinubu's Special Adviser on Political Communication, Daniel Bwala.
"Regarding the disagreement over whether terrorists in Nigeria target only Christians or people of all faiths, these differences, if any, will be discussed and resolved by the two leaders at their meeting in the coming days, whether at the House of Representatives or at the White House," Bwala wrote.
At the end of October, Trump labeled Nigeria a "country of particular concern" and stated that he plans to "investigate the mass killings of Christians by radical Islamists in that country."
In response, Tinubu stated on social media that Nigeria is not a nation of "religious intolerance" and is taking measures to protect both Christians and Muslims. Trump, however, has threatened to halt all aid to Nigeria and employ military force if Abuja does not protect Christians from Islamic radicals.
