A new gas field has been discovered in Egypt's Western Desert by the local oil and gas company Badr El Din Petroleum, according to the North African country's Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources.
"An estimated 15 billion cubic feet of gas reserves are expected to be added from this field, discovered in a lower marine reservoir. A re-evaluation of this reservoir in the region is currently underway to select the best locations for drilling new wells in the future," the statement said.
The new well's production capacity will reach 16 million cubic feet of gas per day and 750 barrels of condensate.
In October, Egypt's Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Karim Badawi, announced that the country plans to drill 480 new exploration wells for oil and gas by 2030, with total investments in the project exceeding $5.7 billion.
