Moroccan state-owned mining company Office Chérifien des Phosphates (OCP) reported revenue of 30.6 billion dirhams (approximately €3 billion) in the second quarter of 2025.
The financial performance of OCP, which specializes in the mining, processing, and export of phosphates and phosphate products, shows steady growth. In the first half of 2025, its revenue reached 52.17 billion dirhams (about €4.9 billion), which is 21% higher than the same period in 2024. This surge is attributed to increased sales volumes of phosphate rock and fertilizers combined with stable prices on the global market.
Overall, phosphate exports from Morocco grew by nearly 21% in the first seven months of 2025, reaching 55.18 billion dirhams (approximately €5.2 billion). The main contributors to this growth were exports of raw phosphate, fertilizers, and phosphoric acid.
Morocco, which holds over 70% of the world's known phosphate reserves, is a key player in this market. OCP plays a significant role by supplying markets such as Brazil, India, and Europe, and also contributes to the development of agriculture in Africa.
Morocco's Ministry of Economy and Finance previously stated that the production index in the country's mining sector increased by 10.8% as of the end of March 2025. Specifically, the production of phosphorites – a key product of the sector – rose by 11.9%, while the output of phosphate-derived products also grew by 8.1%.
