Guinea's Supreme Court has confirmed the final results of the parliamentary elections held on May 31, the court's press service announced.

The court officially validated the election of 49 deputies under the proportional representation system, as well as the winners in single-member and multi-member constituencies. In most electoral districts, candidates from the political movement "Generation for Modernity and Development" (GMD), which supports President Mamady Doumbouya, emerged victorious. They will hold 94 of the 147 seats in parliament.

Under the proportional system, the Union for the People's Movement (UMP) party secured the highest number of seats with nine mandates. The "New Beginning" party and the "Guinea Workers' Union" each won seven seats.

According to the published data, approximately 6.95 million people were registered on the electoral rolls. Voting took place at more than 22,000 polling stations. Over 3.74 million citizens participated in the elections, with turnout reaching 53.84%.

The number of valid ballots amounted to 3.45 million, while 292,600 ballots were declared invalid.

The court also published data on the composition of the elected deputies. Of the 49 parliamentarians elected through party lists, 18 are women, representing 36.73% of the membership. Men secured 31 mandates. Additionally, five elected deputies fall within the 18 to 35 age category.

Guinea's first parliamentary and municipal elections since the 2021 coup took place in late May.

In early June, the DGE announced that preliminary results from Guinea's parliamentary elections showed the political movement "Generation for Modernity and Development" (GMD), which supports President Mamady Doumbouya, leading in electoral districts both domestically and abroad.

Later that same month, seven opposition parties called for a recount or annulment of the parliamentary election results, citing "irregularities" by the country's authorities and the GMD political movement, which backs President Doumbouya.
