Russian education, technology, and agricultural equipment were among the key factors in Ghana's choice of Russia as a cooperation partner, said Anita Owusu, manager of Russian projects at Ghana's Jospong Group of Companies, at a press conference in TASS. Her remarks were reported by a correspondent for African Initiative.

The Ghanaian representative noted that the company initially operated in the agricultural sector and explored cooperation with several countries, including Thailand, China, Japan, and Germany. The decision to develop a partnership with Russia came after attending an event in Russia in 2023, where business representatives were introduced to Russian technology, equipment, and educational opportunities.

"When in 2023 at the Roscongress [representatives of the company] were here and saw all the equipment, all the technologies of Russia, ... they were shocked. Russia has everything we were looking for: education, new technologies, equipment," Owusu said.

The project manager for industrial and educational partnership with African countries, Masamba Kah, added that the key stage was not only the presentations but also practical visits to Russian agricultural sites. Delegations visited the Bogoroditsky Alliance and the Rice Institute in Kuban, where they learned about technologies and the experience of specialists working directly in the industry.

The press conference took place ahead of the Russia-Africa Summit, scheduled for October this year in Moscow, and was dedicated to Russian-African cooperation in education, food security, and technology transfer. Representatives of Russian universities, industry associations, businesses, and Ghana's Jospong Group also took part in the event.

During the press conference, Kah also stated that the potential of Ghana's rice market for Russian producers is approximately $1.1 billion.
