First Deputy Chair of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs Elena Perminova has proposed opening a Russian culture center in Namibia, parliamentary television "Vmeste-RF" reported on September 21.
"The Namibian side is interested in creating such a Russian House. ... Through parliamentarians, we certainly support this idea," the politician emphasized.
Perminova noted that these matters are being worked out through relevant ministries, including Russia's Foreign Ministry and the Ministry of Education.
Additionally, a delegation from Namibia was present at the parliamentary elections in Russia as observers. This is already the second such mission by representatives of the African country: the Namibian side first came to Russia in 2024 during the presidential elections.
Member of Namibia's national parliament Abner Shikongo gave a positive assessment of the organization of the elections in Russia.
"The atmosphere was calm and pleasant. We noted that the queue was fairly short. ... Many voters use new technologies and vote electronically. By our assessment, the elections were fair," Shikongo concluded.
Earlier in September, observers from Mali and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) praised the organization of the elections and the use of digital technologies in voting.
Elections to the 9th State Duma were held from September 18 to 20.
