Ethiopia and Armenia have expressed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations in trade and investment. This was announced on October 17 by the Ethiopian News Agency (ENA), citing a statement from Mulu Tarakegn, Deputy Director-General for Europe and the Americas at the Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

He noted that Armenians and individuals of Armenian origin residing in Ethiopia, particularly in Addis Ababa, are making significant contributions to the country's development. According to him, relations between the two nations are actively developing across various sectors, including education, information and communication technologies, and digitalization.

"I believe the time has come for both countries to establish close cooperation and exert maximum efforts to develop trade and investment relations," emphasized Tarakegn.

For his part, the Ambassador of Armenia to the East African country, Saak Sargsyan, noted that a significant number of Armenians living in Ethiopia have become an integral part of Ethiopian society. He also praised the strong ties and growing cooperation between the countries but added that the partnership needs further strengthening.

"Over the past three decades, our relations have developed positively. However, much more remains to be done," the ambassador stated.

Earlier in October, Canadian Ambassador Nicolas Simard expressed Canada's interest in expanding bilateral relations with Ethiopia.
