The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Sahel States Alliance (AHS), which includes Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger, signed an agreement on the creation of AHS television during a meeting of the Alliance's Council of Ministers on December 21. This is reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Niger.

"This agreement <...> reflects the general political will to provide the AGS with a strategic, sovereign and unifying media tool. The mission of the Alliance's television will be to promote regional integration, highlight the actions of the member states, strengthen public awareness and transmit the voice of the AGS at the regional and international levels," the message says.

According to the press release, the creation of a new media outlet will become part of the policy of restoring information sovereignty and strengthening cooperation between the AGC states in the interests of their peoples.

Earlier in December, the Burkina Faso High Council for Communications (CSC) provided a frequency for the operation of the Daandé Liptako AGC radio station. The launch of the radio will take place at the summit of the heads of state of the Alliance, which takes place on December 22-23 in Bamako.

In October, the CEOs General of the State news agencies of Burkina Faso (AIB), Mali (AMAP) and Niger (ANP) signed a memorandum of understanding to create conditions for further cooperation in the field of print media and information.
