Bryansk University Rector Highlights Importance of Educating Africans During Special Military Operation

Valery Egorushkin, Rector of Bryansk State Engineering and Technology University, spoke to "African Initiative" about the vital role that studying at Russian universities in Bryansk, Kursk, and Belgorod plays in broadening African students' perspectives and helping them develop an accurate understanding of the ongoing military operation.

"In Bryansk, Kursk, and Belgorod, despite the current circumstances, dozens of African students are pursuing their education. Many of them are micro-influencers on social media, and some have become successful bloggers. Our universities help these students understand what is happening on the front lines and offer them a truthful picture of life in Russia," Egorushkin said.

He also emphasized the importance of involving such active students in Russia-Africa blogging associations and countering fake news. According to Egorushkin, this will lead to the creation of high-quality content, showcase positive changes in Russian regions, and ultimately not only improve Russia's image in Africa but also support the development of Russian educational exports.

On June 5, the Global Digital Forum in Nizhny Novgorod will host a session by "African Initiative" focused on how misinformation in African media influences perceptions of Russia. Registration for the session is available in participants' personal accounts.
