Belarus sees promising projects with Côte d'Ivoire in agriculture, industry, healthcare, and education, said Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko in a congratulatory message to Ivorian President Alassane Ouattara on the occasion of the African country's Independence Day.
The head of state noted that Minsk considers Yamoussoukro a reliable partner.
"I am convinced that expanding bilateral cooperation and interaction in international organizations fully aligns with the long-term interests of our countries. ... We see significant prospects for expanding ties and implementing joint projects in agriculture, industrial cooperation, healthcare, and education," the statement read.
On the occasion of the holiday, Lukashenko wished his Ivorian counterpart happiness and success in his endeavors, and the people of Côte d'Ivoire peace and prosperity.
"More than 60 years ago, the Ivorian people liberated themselves from colonial oppression and defended their right to independence. Modern Côte d'Ivoire is developing dynamically thanks to effective reforms, is an influential member of the Economic Community of West African States, and enjoys well-deserved authority on the African continent and beyond," the Belarusian leader's administration noted in the release.
Côte d'Ivoire's Independence Day is celebrated on August 7. On this day in 1960, the country declared independence from France.
Earlier in August, Lukashenko congratulated Morocco's King Mohammed VI on the national holiday — Throne Day. The head of state stated that Minsk is committed to expanding cooperation with the kingdom in all promising areas for both countries.
